The Fellowship Council

The CFPC awards the Fellowship Designation (FCFP) to CFPC Certificants who distinguish themselves through outstanding contribution to their communities, their colleagues, and the discipline of family medicine. The CFPC recognizes that collectively, Fellows are a valuable resource to the College. With this in mind, the Fellowship Council has been established; it is a voluntary advisory body to which all CFPC Fellows are invited to belong.

The Council provides an opportunity to network with other Fellows, along with additional benefits that will be announced in the coming months. In the future, the College may call on the Fellowship Council members periodically for input on the discipline of family medicine and the Canadian health care system. Fellowship Council members can also elect to participate in the process of awarding the FCFP designation to future Fellows by joining one of the nomination assessment committees. There are three committees that have been established to support the Fellowship process:
Review Committee: Completes annual online review of a limited number of nominations to make selections for the FCFP designation
Adjudication Committee: Mediates the annual review process of any applications that do not receive consensus among the Review Committee
Appeals Committee: Reviews unsuccessful applications that have been submitted under the appeals process to make a final determination [Note: Appeals Committee members may not be members of the other committees]

Any CFPC member in good standing who holds the FCFP designation is eligible to participate in the Fellowship Council (including those that are retired from active practice, living abroad, etc.) All Fellows that join the Council may participate in the advisory component and networking opportunities, and they may also elect to join one or more of the Fellowship nomination assessment committees. The Council will include both online and in-person networking opportunities; any requests for participation are optional and as a result the Council does not have any required time commitment.

If you currently hold the FCFP designation, please click here to join the Fellowship Council and indicate your interest in committee participation.
