Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians (FCFP)

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) grants the Fellowship in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (FCFP) designation to members who maintain their Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) for 10 years and distinguish themselves through outstanding contributions to their communities, their colleagues, and the discipline of family medicine. Fellowship is awarded through the annual nomination process and supported by existing Fellows who dedicate their time as peer reviewers.

Join the Fellowship Council

All CFPC members who hold an active FCFP are invited to join the Fellowship Council. The Fellowship Council is a voluntary, virtual advisory body. Members may participate in the annual review process for Fellowship nominations through one of the following review committees:

  • Nomination Committee: Committee members annually review a limited number of submissions to determine if applicants are successful and should receive the FCFP designation
  • Adjudication Committee: One adjudicator reviews both the application and Nomination Committee decisions/feedback to determine the outcome of applications that did not receive a unanimous decision from Nomination Committee reviewer
  • Appeals Committee: Committee members review applications that are resubmitted under the appeals process

Any CFPC member in good standing who holds the FCFP designation is eligible to participate in the Fellowship Council (including those who are retired from active practice or living abroad.) All Fellows who join the Council may participate in advisory and networking opportunities and may also join one or more of the Fellowship review committees.

The time commitment for reviewers is up to two hours in total throughout April to July. Reviews are completed online (or by videoconference for appeals reviews only). Volunteering as a peer reviewer is an eligible continuing professional development activity and can be reported for Mainpro+® non-certified credits.

If you currently hold the FCFP designation and you are interested in joining the Fellowship Council, please enter your information on this form. Please contact fellowship@cfpc.ca with any questions.
